Yola Grant

Yola currently serves as an adjudicative lead and shares in the management of vice chairs and members who resolve human rights claims. Called to the bar in 1989, Yola served for a decade in the Ontario Public Service in policy and litigation in employment, labour and human rights law before engaging a private practice (Grant & Bernhardt) for 15 years. In her appellate litigation, Yola argued Charter cases to advance equality rights, most notably R.D.S. (S.C.C) regarding judicial bias.
Yola regularly presents papers to the bar and has also served as a Board Director for numerous non-profits and charities to address violence against women, children's rights, social housing and anti-racism.
Prior to law, Yola worked as a systems engineer at I.B.M. and a lecturer at colleges.
